Omega Protein works closely with the National Marine Fisheries Service, Atlantic and Gulf States Marine Fisheries Commissions, and numerous state fisheries agencies to ensure that the menhaden resource is managed properly so that it will remain productive. Omega Protein Corporation also actively subscribes to and is certified as adhering to the principals of these conservation organizations:


Friend of the Sea Approved Fisheries (a) target stocks which are not overexploited; (b) use fishing methods which don't impact the seabed and (c) generate less than average (8%) discards.



Ocean Trust is a science-based, authoritative voice on the oceans. Ocean Trust conducts independent research and provides public education on oceans issues which impact the management and use of the oceans to feed the people of the world.
